Introduction

Flotation 3 - Circuits is a course for process engineers, mill operators and mineral processing students. This course is the third of a suite of three courses on flotation from Metso Process Technology ... other titles include Flotation 1 - Fundamentals and Flotation 2 - Unit Operations. A partial list of topics covered by this course include Flotation Circuit Basics, Copper Circuit Example and Copper-Zinc Circuit Example.

In recent years the mineral processing industry has downsized its labor force, installed new technology with larger equipment and incorporated plant wide automation, all in an effort to improve productivity and performance while maintaining operating cost at a minimum. As a consequence of these actions the operator is now required to make more and better informed decisions. To meet the educational needs at the mill operation level Metso Process Technology has developed a Computer Based Mill Operator Education Program. The full program includes a suite of mineral processing courses for mill operators and process engineers on Grinding and Flotation which have been adapted for Web presentation on EduMine (details available from info@metso.com).

Well trained operators mean higher profits, more throughput, safer operation, better morale, better grade and recovery and improved communication.

Course Content

This course comprises 9 working sessions, of 30 - 60 minutes duration each, plus numerous figures and extensive review sessions. Total course duration is equivalent to approximately 5 hours of viewing content.

This course has been recently upgraded, including re-structuring and enhancement of content and application of new quality control procedures.

Learning Outcomes

Participants who successfully complete this course and the certification requirements will be able to perform the following.

• Explain the principles of operation and control of flotation circuits.

• Apply this knowledge to flotation plant operations.

Course Requirements

Basic requirements for successful completion of this course include the following.

• A partial degree or diploma in mining or industrial engineering or related discipline.

• Successful completion of the course Flotation 2 - Unit Operations.

Course Certification

This course qualifies for EduMine Certification. A certificate will be issued to an EduMine enrollee who registers for certification and successfully completes the certification requirements. The total certification fee for this course is Can$95.

0.5 CEUs  (Continuing Education Units) will be awarded for successful completion of certification requirements for this course.
