Rimas Pakalnis knows his stuff and was able to fly through loads of material in a short time, while still answering many off-topic questions and making things clearly understandable. I can apply the empirical design methods with much greater confidence now. He did a good job of tailoring his course ( Empirical Design Methods for Underground Mines) to our questions, so everything that we could think to ask got included.

This ( Rock Mass Classification for Mine Design) was among the best organized and most relevant courses that I've ever participated in. Doug Milne knows his stuff and was able to present the ideas just differently enough that I understand them much more thoroughly than before. I can apply these methods with much greater confidence now.

Dr. Clark is very knowledgeable and has a lot of experience, but the best qualification she has is that she not only knows her subject ( Practical Geostatistics) but also she knows how to transmit the concepts to others in an easy, very didactic way.

I would love to see an expanded version of the course ( Practical Geostatistics) where more material is covered and lot more time allotted to case studies.

I think it is very important to include environmental topics in the learning offered to the mining industry ( Practical Mineral Processing) - applause to EduMine for that. I think the involvement of a university like UBC is very beneficial. (I’d like to see) if possible, more "big-picture" overview of current state of metals toxicity in Canadian waters. Maybe some more work on how to assess/conclude if there are concerns with particular waters.

It was the first time I attended a webcast ( Mine-Mill Integration: The Business Case Webcast) and really I am happy with the results. The nature of my job does not allow me to attend courses in person and so I found it very helpful for me and I will participate in further courses. I will encourage my colleagues to use this kind of program to continue to professionally develop, mainly for the ones like me who work in remote areas.

I don't rate multiple choice exams very highly although you don't have other options. These were pretty easy. You should increase the overall inventory of questions that you draw a set from for a section and/or present questions as a project management scenario requiring judgement from the manager with the possible courses of action as the choice set.
I also commented separately by email on S-curve envelopes to the effect that the envelope shape is a function of the input parameters. So where can one get objective real-world parmeters? Otherwise there is too much scope for wiggle room by people trying to get off the hook. If they find themselves outside the envelope, well change the envelope shape and with a single bound they are free.
Similarly where does one go or how does one assemble the data to "do a statistical probability estimate" of overall plant availability when estimating conservative designs. I've had similar issues of finding real-world data in the past in putting parameters into Monte Carlo simulations (and never really solved the issue)

Excellent presenter, excellent material! Personally I would've loved more time spent on specific mining processing means (coal, diamonds and into the applications like open pit mining, even aggregates). ( Mining 101 Webcast) is a great tool for busy professionals. I appreciated the flexible schedule spread over several days. I just wish I had taken time prior to the course to review the e-learning material. What a great offering. No complaints!

I was surprised to have a person of his calibre at our disposal. (Dr. Scott Dunbar) added a small part to the course ( Mining 101 Webcast) on the fly based on the context of our discussions. Only a slight improvement: the supporting material needs a couple of slides updated. The instructor gauged the audience for how deep to go on each topic and that is the best way.

The title of the course is Mineral Project Management; however, the content of the course, even though in essence is applied to mineral project management, is mostly oriented to engineering projects, I was a bit disappointed in that sense. I was expecting to cover topics and examples more related to mining/mineral projects.

There was very useful factual and statistical information which I definitely benefited from. My one criticism of the course ( A Global Perspective on Cyanide Use and Management) is that I did find the information presented in an unnecessary persuasive, partial tone (I feel that the facts should speak for themselves) and the case studies were very basic with little useful information about what happened, although it did prompt me to do my own reading up on the UN summary reports for a better understanding of what happened, which is positive. Thank you.

Your courses are very good indeed, and Mining 101 ( Introduction to Mining and Mineral Processing) was a great jumpstart. Online courses and webcasts have a future in our industry ... We are almost always working from a remote area somewhere on the planet but, luckily, we also almost always have internet access these days. We already conduct so many meetings via webcast, so why not go ahead and take courses as well?

An excellent course for me ( Acid Rock Drainage Prediction), since my profession is a Mining Engineer/Environmental Officer. Probably a more in-depth course should be designed to focus more on a specific area of study, e.g. AMD in waste rock or tailings.

All and all a good course ( Blast Design and Assessment for Surface Mines and Quarries). If I may suggest a couple of things... Larger size illustrations would speed progress through some of the areas and allow better use of time. I needed more info about vibration. Both interactive tools in this section failed to load. I would like to have access to these tools once they are repaired. This is important to my learning. Please respond to me on this. Thank you for a good course. I learned or validated much.

I just completed the course Surface Reclamation Techniques 1: Topsoil, Hydrology and Topography. I would like to say that it appeared to be comprehensive for a topic that I am sure has many if, ands or buts. I enjoyed taking it and look forward to taking the next in the series. As far as my ratings are concerned, I did note a few typos or misplaced words and a few of the figures were basically illegible because of scan quality ... If not for the lack of definitions of some of the terms, blurred figures and confusion with come of the multiple figures, my overall rating would have been good to very good. As stated previously, I enjoyed taking the course and consider the time well spent. I would recommend others to take it. I am using this course for PE re-certification and it is gratifying to know that there are courses I can take that are reasonably priced and that I am actually interested in to use for CEUs. Thank you for providing this opportunity.

The three EduMine courses that I have taken some weeks ago have been very useful for me. When I thought about which one I should take, I didn´t find it difficult at all to choose the right one. It was because I was looking for a specific theme, and I found it: The mine backfill ( Underground Mine Backfill). The way these courses present each aspect of certain matter makes the students think about our own reality and recognise the problems that occur on our mine sites, and therefore it is easier to find solutions. Both the content and presentation are very suitable for engineers who need clear and short but yet detailed information on the concerns we are working on.

An extremely useful course ( Practical Rock Engineering 5 - Excavation and Support) - particularly as the majority of my previous experience has been with large open pits. I wanted to take a moment and commend you and your staff for an absolutely fantastic website! After fifteen years in the oil industry as a Petroleum Geologist, I have recently decided to convert a long standing interest in the mining sector into a career reality.
Thanks to InfoMine/EduMine, my career shift is in full swing with a recent subscription to your services. Your website is the perfect support system for my needs which include getting up to speed with my mining technical capabilities (EduMine), looking for an initial position to springboard my new mining career (CareerMine/Job Fair, etc.) and in keeping up to date with worldwide mining events and news.
I sincerely thank you and your staff for providing such a unique and extensive mining resource which, for me, will certainly expedite and solidify my new career endeavors.

This course has been one of the best online courses that I have taken thus far ( Mineral Project Management (a CIM Course)). If there is room for improvement, then I would like to suggest that a real project be studied from prefeasibility through to close out using actual numbers. This would be of assistance for those of us who would like to see an example of how the financial reporting requirements, Tables, S-Curves and cost reports are drawn up and interpreted. I believe that this would give the course a balance between theory and practical application and give the student an appreciation of how the two are combined. Thank you once again. It was a very good course and I have already used some of the material contained in the course.

I've just completed a few courses, I wanted to review and determine if there was any benefit for our mine site if our people were to take advantage of the web based learning packages. I reviewed courses as a subject matter expert and also did some courses in areas I wasn't so familiar with and was more than happy with the content and structure of the courses. It looks as though we would like to persue this as a company as one way of developing our people further.

Thanks for your help. I believe that in Peru as well as in other countries we need the courses that Edumine offers. The course of Mineral Project Management I’ve taken, even though it took me a long time to complete, had a lot of things that are very interesting and useful. Found the course ( Exploration and Mining Geology 1 - The Geologic Baseline) to be informative, thought provoking, and challenging for a person at the graduate level of understanding of the field. It was a nice "brush-up" course. Text was enjoyed by the reviewer, and the reviews were comprehensive in coverage of the material. I'm looking forward to the next course ... thanks for the opportunity to partake in the certification process. I'm enjoying my learning experience.

Mr. Mackie has a great writing style making Mineral Project Management easy to understand and pleasant. I could relate to some of his experiences. I have enjoyed all of the Mineral Processing Courses. The courses contained lots of practical information on the fundamental principles of grinding and flotation. The sections on operation and control are directly applicable to any grinding/flotation mill. The courses were an excellent "refresher" for me. I believe they would be valuable training tools for mill operators.

I have been going over the course material ( Geotechnical Data Collection for Excavation in Rock) off and on for a week and have only today registered for certification. I have found the course very interesting and relevant to actual work in the field. I have been involved in two large geotechnical programmes in Canada in the NWT and Northern Ontario. I will be responsible for another geotech programme this winter and have found the course very informative as a review. As well it has given me some ideas that I will incorporate into this years programme that may save time and solve problems.
Thanks ... Dave
