P.F. Stacey, P.Eng.,P.F. Stacey, P.Eng., has 39 years experience in the various aspects of pit slope and mining geotechnical design, project management and review. After spend 5 years working for the Geological Survey of Sweden as a Geologist in the Ore Investigation Division and another 5 years with the Iron Ore Company of Canada as initially an exploration and development geologist, and subsequently Supervisor – Geotechnical Engineering, Mr. Stacey joint Golder Associates Ltd., based in Vancouver, Canada. During his 29 years with Golder, Mr. Stacey developed a reputation as a world expert in the areas of pit slope design and the application of geotechnical engineering to the operational aspects of open pit mines. He also acted in a Project Management capacity for large scale mining geotechnical programs on projects in various parts of the world, including Kyrgyzstan (Kumtor gold project), Peru (Southern Peru Copper) and China (Fushun and Huo Lin He coal projects). During his time with Golder Associates, Mr. Stacey also acted as Project Manager for a number of mine feasibility studies, including Key Lake uranium mine and the Kara scheelite property in Tasmania. In 2003, Mr. Stacey formed Stacey Mining Geotechnical Ltd. to concentrate on independent review consulting related to the geotechnical aspects of open pit mining. In this capacity, he is current either review consultant or on the Geotechnical Review Board for several large open pit operations, including: Minera Escondida Ltda.
