Mine-Mill Integration - The Business Case

Dr. Andrew Bamber, BSc, MASc, PhD, P.Eng

Andrew Bamber received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cape Town in 1993. He subsequently worked as an EIT at the Hartebeestfontein Gold Mine in South Africa and in 1996 obtained his Certificate of Competency in Mining Plant and Mining Law (SA Minerals Act, 1995). From 1997 he worked as a project engineer in gold, base metals and industrial minerals for Anglovaal Mining Ltd, and registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council in South Africa in 1999. Andrew received a Masters’ degree in Mining and Mineral Processing in 2004, and a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 2008.

Over his career he has contributed to the successful completion of several major mining and processing projects in Southern Africa, Kazakhstan and Canada. He is competent in terms of NI-43-101, AMREC and other mineral resource definition standard. He is currently a principal of BC Mining Research Ltd and CEO of MineSense Technologies, a Vancouver based, early stage mining technology and product development company.

Andrew has won several awards for his work, including the 2008 CIM AGM Graduate Research and Poster Presentation Prize and, in October 2010, was honored by the Institute of Mining & Metallurgy with the 2010 Douglas Hays Medal for his doctoral work on Mine-Mill Integration Technologies.
