Welcome to the EduMine Professional Development Campus at Newmont Midas Operations
Newmont’s Nevada operations are the largest gold producer in the United States. In 2002, the Company’s 14 open pit and five underground mines in Nevada sold 2.72 million ounces of gold, slightly higher than 2001. Total cash costs were $225 per ounce in 2002, slightly higher than 2001. With 2002 reserves of 30.7 million equity ounces of gold, Nevada will remain a key component of Newmont’s production profile for years to come.
The Midas mine, acquired as part of the Normandy Mining acquisition in February 2002, sold approximately 196,200 ounces in 2002, representing approximately 7% of Nevada’s total sales.
