Introduction

Electricity is a form of energy. This energy is associated to positive and negative charges which produce a displacement of electrons between two (2) bodies.

Though everyone knows of electricity, it is no simple matter to explain it. Electricity can be transformed into light, mechanical energy such as electric motors, and high tension energy like ignition systems.

During this module, we will look at:

  • the difference between direct current and alternating current,
  • the various sources of electricity,
  • magnetism, and
  • induction.

  • Explain the nature of electricity and its travelling speed.
  • Identify the various sources of electricity.
  • Explain the chemical reactions during the production of electricity.
  • Identify the induction and magnetism phenomena.
