TU Bergakademie Freiberg was founded in 1765 and is the oldest university of mining and metallurgy in the world. Geo-expertise is a main focus at TU Bergakademie Freiberg at the Faculty of Geoscience, Geoengineering and Mining. Disciplines covered include Geology, Hydrogeology, Geophysics, Rock Mechanics, Engineering Geology, Mining, Slope Engineering, and Mine Surveying. The Faculty includes the Institute for Mining and Civil Engineering. Business management and process engineering are also taught at the Institute. Freiberg´s expertise is integrated in a German and international network of universities, research institutes and enterprises.
