The Guelb Moghrein Copper Mines deposit is located 250 kilometers northeast of the nation’s capital, Nouakchott, near the town of Akjoujt in Mauritania. Guelb consists of an open pit mineable, copper /gold deposits. Ore is crushed and milled followed by flotation to produce a copper- gold concentrate which is shipped to offshore smelters. The remainder of the gold is produced from flotation tails which are fed to a carbon in leach circuit for recovery using standard cyanide techniques.
